BJP(Bhartiya Janta Party) is one of the leading national parties of India. Elections for the parliament are around the corner and every party is trying their best to woo voters. In this context, every party has released their election manifesto to tell their future plans and guidelines of their work, if they come into power.
In past, I did not care about such documents. But today, I have extensive knowledge in public policy, foreign affairs and strategic planning, so I decided to read each of such released manifesto. So why I am writing this entire blog post? Do not get me wrong, I am not here to tell you which party to support. That’s you have to decide yourself 🙂
It was the importance of MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) highlighted on page 24 of the Bhartiya Janta Party manifesto released on 07.04.2014. This manifesto highlighted the need of MOOC and virtual education in providing vocational training to housewives, skilled people for further strengthening their knowledge. MOOC’s can be of great help in fulfilling the required objectives and I am really glad that someone has identified their importance. This is what I am trying to do with my limited efforts from past few months.
Definitely, there will be many challenges in implementing this plan of providing MOOC and virtual education to everyone in India. Especially in the light of issues such as the low broadband penetration among the population of India. Even the current internet connection possess the bandwidth issues in watching the lectures. Nevertheless, it is a good thing that this idea has been considered to take into action.
Hopefully! If BJP wins this election, they will keep their promise and work on providing MOOC to everyone who is in need.
