Location: Bus Stop (DTU/Rævehøjvej)
Purpose: Waiting for the bus 150 S for going to the city center (Nørrerport Station).
It was during those early days, when I was not aware of lot of things about Denmark. I arrived to the bus stop without much inquiring the timings of arrival and time to reach destination etc. According to the chart says, my bus is due to arrive in 6 minutes. In my mind, I just thought that 6 minutes is just written on the paper, it will take at least 10-15 minutes to be here.
I was completely wrong, to my surprise; I could see the bus arrived on time exactly what is being written on the time-table. From that day it became a wonderful journey of experiencing things happening on time both including people as well as transportation. It is clearly visible in all the spheres of society at Denmark. Public transportation system works very efficiently especially when it comes to maintaining time. It has been modernized as per the needs and updated regularly to serve the needs in a better manner. It helps everyone to plan things accordingly and more systematically. Whenever I am going to some place, the website of public transportation tells me approximate time duration to reach the place from destination (along with the map). It also tells us all possible connections in between and it works very well.
Not only transportation, it can be seen that people in general are very punctual of time. It is very rare to find people coming late for the meetings. I was even told by my Danish friends that coming 5 minutes is acceptable but more than that is insult of the person waiting for you in Denmark. Talking about myself, it helped me to become more systematic, planning things properly as well expecting that if the meeting is scheduled to start at 17:00 then it will start at 17:00. At the same time if the bus is supposed to arrive at 19:00, then it will arrive at 19:00. You can be very sure of it.
So if you are planning to come to Denmark, then be prepared for such higher level of time punctuality and ready to grasp it quickly.
